PhD Studentship or Junior Postdoctoral Position at the Department of Biology of Physical Activity, University of Jyväskylä

 

Department of Biology of Physical Activity invites applications for a PhD studentship or a Junior Postdoctoral Position to investigate lipid droplets and lipid droplet coat proteins of skeletal muscle and liver cells. The position is funded by the Academy of Finland for a period of up to four years starting in January 2010. An earlier start is negotiable.

 

The research program “Lipid droplets and lipid droplet coat proteins of skeletal muscle and liver cells - effects of exercise and diet” is directed by Professor Heikki Kainulainen. His research group provides good working conditions, inspiring colleagues and active international contacts.

 

Applicants should hold an academic degree qualifying for postgraduate studies (MSc or equivalent biomedical or Life Sciences degree) or a recent doctorate in a relevant field. Experience in laboratory methods in cell and molecular biology, biological imaging as well as skills in laboratory animal handling are appreciated. The actual research tasks of the successful applicant will be jointly determined at the start of the employment. The successful applicant should be fluent in computer skills and in English.
