One postgraduate Ph.D. student position is available at the Salven lab in the Finnish Center of Excellence in Cancer Biology at Biomedicum Helsinki, University of Helsinki. The work will focus on molecular cellular biology of adult stem cells in angiogenesis and cancer.
The grad student will be involved in work on of adult bone marrow- and/or tissue- derived stem cells. The experimental setups include in vivo mouse models of stem differentiation, angiogenesis, and cancer. Transgenic animal models with genomic markers such as GFP are extensively used. Mouse cells and tissues are examined using various imaging and other cellular analysis techniques including immunofluorescence microscopy, confocal laser scanning microscopy, and FACS.
An M.Sc. degree and a strong interest in molecular cellular biology is required for the applicant. Previous hands-on experience in microscopy, tissue analyses, and immunohistochemistry is highly appreciated. The starting date is negotiable. The deadline for receipt of applications is February 28, 2009. Please send me by e-mail a completed application including a short description of your interests and technical experience, and a CV. Send also the names and contact information of two people who can recommend you. Please contact me only by e-mail: petri.salven@helsinki.fi
