A project suitable as a Pro gradu work to an enthusiastic student!
The project involves studying NF-kB signaling related to oral cancer as well as exosome-mediated transfer of information.
Most of the experiments will be cell culture-based and by using a 3D tumor model developed by our group (Nurmenniemi et al. 2009, Am J Pathol 175: 1281-1291).
Methods that will be used are plasmid-mediated overexpression, siRNA-mediated protein downregulation, different types of migration and invasion experiments, proliferation and viability assays, exosome isolation,
immunohistochemistry and confocal microscopy.
There might also be a possibility to continue as a doctoral student later.
The research laboratory is situated at Institute of Dentistry, at the Medical campus, main building, Aapistie 5A.
