At the Department of Biochemistry, University of Oulu, Finland, in the group of Professor Thomas Kietzmann:

 

Two DOCTORAL STUDENT positions open starting from May/June 2010. These posts have been announced previously (December 16, 2009) and already submitted applications will receive full consideration. The posts will be filled for a maximum of 4 years.

 

Successful applicants will work on the "Molecules Interacting in Hypoxia-Signalling and Associated Diseases". The proposed project will implement a multi- and interdisciplinary basic research effort focusing on the role of cell compartment in hypoxia signaling and the identification of participating kinases. Expertise and willingness to work with animal models would be an advantage.

 

The salary for the post will be based on levels 1- 4 of the demand level chart for universitylevel teaching and research staff of the government pay system for Finnish universities, the job-specific component of the salary thus being EUR 1680,56 to 2292,34 per month. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid.

- Preliminary/preparatory research plan and postgraduate study plan

- Documents of other funding previously received for the doctoral studies (e.g. study grants, research assistantships, graduate school fellowships) and other funding applied for but not yet granted

- A transcript of studies

- 2-3 publications (if the applicant has already published scholarly papers)

 

In the application process, priority will be given to applicants who have good research potential. Interviews will be organized with selected applicants.
