A PhD student or post-doctoral fellow position is open at the Neuroscience Center, University of Helsinki, in a group studying neurodegenerative mechanisms in Alzheimer's disease and Down syndrome. http://www.helsinki.fi/neurosci/open_positions.htm
Our focus is to understand molecular events underlying the early events in sporadic Alzheimer's disease with particular focus on endosomal dysfunction. We aim at developing new cellular and animal models of endosomal dysfunction that are associated with increased generation of amyloid-beta peptide mimicking the earliest neuropathological events in late- onset Alzheimer's disease.
The research of the student or post-doctoral fellow will focus on developing
and validating these models with possible application on drug discovery projects.Experience and background in basic molecular and cell biological methods (cell and tissue culture, PCR, cloning, mutagenesis, Western blotting, immunofluorescence) as well as basic skills in laboratory animal workare needed. The applicant should be fluent in both computer skills and English.
Please send a short application with your CV and contact information of one or two referees (not obligatory) to Henri.Huttunen@helsinki.fiby latest on November 30th, 2008.
