Scientist/PhD student

Function: Biotechnology

Job description: We are looking for an innovative scientist/PhD student to work on geomicrobiology and molecular biology. Your task will be to participate in the ongoing research on biogeochemistry and microbiology of the Outokumpu deep drill (2.5 km depth).

The research concern energy metabolism of microorganisms in deep geological environments. The position is at first for two years.
Expectations: We expect you to have a Master’s degree and that you wish achieve your PH.D on this topic. Studies in microbiology, molecular biology (microbial ecology) or cell biology provide a good background for the research work. A background in environmental research and studies in bioinformatics will be considered assets.
