Molecular Biology of Prostate Cancer group, led by Prof. Tapio Visakorpi, at the Prostate Cancer Research Program, Institute of Biomedical Technology, University of Tampere, Tampere, Finland (http://www.uta.fi/ibt) is offering a PhD student position. The research group focuses on a discovery and characterization of molecular mechanisms of the development and treatment resistance of prostate cancer. The topic of the PhD-project will be miR-32, a potential oncogene in prostate cancer. In the project, we study the molecular mechanisms how miR-32 expression contributes to prostate cancer formation and progression using both cell culture-based techniques and transgenic mouse models.
The compensation will be paid as a stipend. Previous experience in cell culture and/or DNA/RNA biology is an asset. More information on the project from leena.latonen(at)uta.fi.
