Dear all,
Just a quick reminder regarding Pro Gradu extensions. If you have a valid reason to have an extension to your Pro Gradu practical work then any extension granted for the lab work also extends the write up period by the same length of time. Valid reasons for extension include anything that prevents you doing work or making progress through no fault of your own and through no fault in planning. Such reasons include sickness, essential equipment breakdown, supervisors being absent, essential samples not arriving etc.
To get an extension you need to submit a brief letter to me stating the reason plus the extension period applied for. Please keep it brief (a few sentences is usually sufficient). It must be signed by you and your supervisor.
Since the Christmas holiday is a period when the vast majority of projects get disrupted (supervisors being absent, core facilties being closed etc) all Pro Gradu projects that run over Christmas get an automatic 1 week extension, without the need to apply.
Best wishes,
Lloyd
