Plant Biology: Positions for a Postdoctoral Researcher & a PhD student
Department of Biology, Laboratories of Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology, University of Turku invites application for a PhD student and a Postdoctoral researcher position to study the molecular mechanisms of development and acclimation in plants. The project “Chloroplast redox reactions in plant development and acclimation” is directed by prof. Eevi Rintamäki.
The positions are funded by the Academy of Finland for a period of up to four years starting in 2009 and provides
1) PhD position: Level 2 to3
salary on the salary scale for Universities in Finland (1717-1891 € per
month plus a personal performance-based component, max. 46 %)
2) Postdoctoral researcher: Level 4 to 5 salary on the salary scale for
Universities in Finland (2193-2998 € per month plus a personal
performance-based component, max. 46 %)
The positions require highly motivated persons with experience in basic molecular and cell biological methods. For a postdoctoral position, successful candidates are expected to have PhD in the field of biology, biochemistry or molecular and cell biology. The experience in plant science and in the case of postdoctoral researcher, experience in proteomic techniques is appreciated but not necessary. The research is carried out in BioCity building that combines the researchers in different fields of biosciences. The laboratories of plant physiology and molecular biology are well equipped for studies of biochemistry and molecular biology with specific devices for plant sciences. The Centre of Biotechnology in BioCity provides the research facilities e.g. for microarray, cell imaging and proteomic studies.
Application: Please send enquiries and an application with CV, list of possible publications and contact information of one or two referees to eevi.rintamaki@utu.fi latest in February 15, 2009.
