A graduate student position is open in tumor genomics group (PI Lauri A. Aaltonen) at Biomedicum, University of Helsinki. We are looking for a genetics major who has finished his/hers M.Sc. studies, or is about to graduate soon. The applicant should be motivated, hardworking, have good interpersonal skills, and, preferably, have experience in laboratory work. Work would start as soon as possible, optimally in the beginning of December.
Our work focuses on cancer and tumor genetics, especially on the inherited predisposition to cancer. We have several dynamic projects on various cancer types utilizing state of the art methods in genetics research. We actively collaborate with Finnish and foreign researchers and our group is part of the Finnish Centre of Excellence in Cancer Genetics Research.
Recent publications: MED12, the mediator complex subunit 12 gene, is mutated at high frequency in uterine leiomyomas.
