Young scientist/student to genomics of kidney transplantation project in the FRC Blood Service, Helsinki, Finland.
We are starting a research project on genomics of complications in kidney transplantation. The project is part of our “Whole genome histocompatibility” project, in which we so far have screened novel genetic factors in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (see e.g. Ritari et al Leukemia 2018http://www.nature.com/articles/s41375-018-0229-3, Hyvärinen et al Scientific Reports 2018https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-017-15915-3 or McCarroll et al Nature Genet 2009https://www.nature.com/articles/ng.490). We are now looking for a young scientist (student/FM or equivalent) who would start the kidney transplantation project by doing sample inventory and selection in collaboration with the transplantation unit at HUCS.
The first period would be till the end of year 2018, starting immediately, and the project may be continued as a PhD project, in which skills in genetic data analysis are necessary. Please send your short cv and application to: jukka.partanen[at]veripalvelu.fi.
Finnish Red Cross Blood Service is a non-profit organisation responsible for collecting blood and supplying blood products all over Finland in a centralised manner, with the annual turnover of about 60 million €. The FRC Blood Service provides all histocompatibility testing for clinical transplantation in Finland. We have a research budget of over 3 million €, with the focus areas in cell therapies, blood donors and genomics of transplantation. Over 60 PhD theses have been completed in the Blood Service and every year 30-40 peer reviewed scientific papers are published by our scientists.
