A researcher position is available in the Chlamydia Research Lab, at the Department of Virology, University of Helsinki (Meilahti campus), in the laboratory of Dr. Mirja
Puolakkainen
Our research interests include bacteria of the order Chlamydiales, and infections caused by them. The research projects utilize methods such as cell culture, infection experiments,
production of heterologous proteins, EIA serology, qPCR, microscopy and NGS. In addition to
Chlamydia trachomatis and Chlamydia pneumoniae, we are interested in the newly discovered Chlamydiales bacteria (Chlamydia-related bacteria) and study their epidemiology, detection and pathogenic potential.
The successful candidate will aim at MSc or hold a MSc or PhD and have interest in microbiological research. Also, experience in the above mentioned techniques is most desirable.
The duration of the project is 1 year. The starting date is August 1, 2018, or as soon as possible thereafter.
