Ph.D. student position funded by the Academy of Finland is available in a research group studying local and systemic micro-RNA regulation of the skeleton and led by Adjunct Professor Jorma Määttä at the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy , Institute of Biomedicine, University of Turku. The position will be initially filled until 31.12.2012 with an option to extend up to 31.8.2015.
The Research focuses on modeling the micro-RNA regulation of bone and cartilage forming cells during development and trauma healing. The research is part of a collaborative network of three groups (Adjunct Professors Anna-Marja Säämänen and Tiina Laitala-Leinonen) all funded by the Academy of Finland . A strong motivation for completing a PhD thesis, suitable background on the field of biomedicine / molecular biology / disease modeling and a proven track of successful scientific work is required for the PhD. student.
The salary of a PhD. student is based according to the Finnish university salary system, demand level 2 (teachers and research personnel) + personal performance component. For a PhD. student salary a completed M Sc. exam is required.
