PHD STUDENT POSITION IN CELLULAR BIOMECHANICS

A PhD student position is available in cellular biomechanics in the Department of Physics, University of Kuopio (www.uku.fi/english/, University of Eastern Finland starting from 2010, www.uef.fi/english). Objectives of the project are to characterize biological materials (tissue and cellular level) and their behavior under loading and to provide insight into the mechanisms behind tissue pathologies using mainly macro-, micro- and nano- level mechanical testing and biomechanical modeling.

Several research groups are involved in the research project and international collaborations and mobility are possible during the project.

We are looking for candidates with the background in one or several of the following disciplines; biomedical engineering, biomechanics, biophysics, or related field.
