Dear all,

We are looking for a highly motivated biochemistry or biology master's degree student to study the long term effects of activated hypoxia response in mice in Prof. Peppi Karppinen’s group. The Pro Gradu project involves screening through the histology of several organs in order to compare aging-related changes in the tissues between genetically modified mice and wild-type mice.

The goal of the project is to show that hypoxia-response is not harmful but rather beneficial for the aging process. We have aged mice which have an activated hypoxia response (via genetic modification) and collected their tissues for analysis. During the project you will learn methods, such as in vivo mouse handling, necropsy, histological methods such as immunofluorescence staining and microscopy, qPCR and Western blotting.

If you are interested please contact us for further details about the project. The project can start as soon as a suitable candidate has been found.

Best wishes,
