Do you want to get intensive training in molecular cell biology during your Pro Gradu Thesis project? The Manninen Lab is investigating how extracellular microenvironment controls cell behavior and differentiation.
We have one Pro Gradu project where you would be learning to use a novel digital holography microscopy (DHM) technic to image live cell dynamics in real-time! Various cell types, including 3-dimensional cell clusters, will be analyzed using the DHM and compared with more traditional, yet state-of-art laser confocal systems at Biocenter Oulu Tissue Imaging Center.
Another Pro Gradu project involves culture and characterization of primary prostate cancer organoids. These clinically relevant patient-derived samples are the future of applied medical research! Organoid-based culture systems are being developed in many top labs all over the world as they are expected to revolutionize the use of cellular models for pharmaceutical industry and diagnostic research.
