Just a quick comment: the job of a medical doctor doing clinical work with patients is TOTALLY ANOTHER JOB as that of a biochemist. I have never actually understood that these two are almost "equal alternatives". Medical doctors surely have earned their good salary - the job is so hard.
And if one goes through the medical school and then becomes a researcher in a medical school lab and not doing clinical work, then the income is not much else than it would be as a biochemist, at least not for many years. Or one could of course work the week-days in the lab and then "make money" as a medical doctor 48 hours continuously during the week-end and all holidays, but what kind of life that is?
Do not be afraid of the future. Do your best, always search for improvement, be active - you will find a place somewhere.
