Subject: [Bco] PhD position in the Helsinki Bioenergetics group,
Institute of Biotechnology, UH
Ph.D
position is available at the Institute of Biotechnology, University of
Helsinki, in the Helsinki Bioenergetics group. We are looking for a highly
motivated researcher interested in the fundamental property of living matter:
energy conversion in biological systems. Priority will be given to applicants
with background in biophysics and biochemistry.
The general interest of our lab is to investigate the molecular mechanisms of
the enzymes that couple redox reactions with the translocation of proton or
sodium ion across the membrane and therefore generate electrochemical ion
gradient, which can be used for formation of ATP and other energy- requiring
cellular processes. Biophysical and biochemical approaches as well as molecular
biology are used in our studies. Our lab is developing the methods that allow
following the enzyme turnover in real time.
The position is available from 1 February 2010. Applicants will be considered
until the position is filled.
Further details of our research can be found at http://www.biocenter.helsinki.fi/bi/hbg/

.
To apply, email your informal application letter describing your research
interests, CV and names and contact addresses of your referees to Marina
Verkhovskaya (marina.verkhovskaya@helsinki.fi .
