A PhD student position is available in the field of developmental biology in Docent Marja Mikkola’s group (http://www.biocenter.helsinki.fi/bi/mikkola/
) at the Institute of Biotechnology, University of Helsinki. Our laboratory, funded by the Academy of Finland, Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation, Sigrid Jusélius Foundation and
Biocentrum Helsinki, studies epithelial morphogenesis in development and disease with focus on murine mammary gland and hair follicle.
The project focuses on understanding the molecular and cellular basis of branching morphogenesis of the embryonic mammary gland and utilizes molecular, cellular, imaging and developmental biology techniques including
in vivo and ex vivo manipulation of developing mammary glands.
We are seeking for enthusiastic and highly-motivated candidates with Master’s degree in genetics, cell/molecular biology, genetics, developmental
biology, animal physiology, biomedicine, biochemistry, or other appropriate field. Candidates who will receive their MSc degree in near future are also eligible to apply. Previous experience in imaging, animal work, or cell and tissue culture is considered
advantageous. Good written and oral skills in English and a team spirit are a necessity.
