I am pleased to announce that there will be the first Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine Innovation Award in March 2017.
To support this (and other innovation linked activities) there will be a new FBMM course Biochemical and biomedical innovation (2/5 ECTS) starting next Monday (10th October). The course is open to all BSc, MSc and PhD students and is mainly given by people from innovation services, Tellus and Oulu Business School. It includes an introduction to IPR as well as workshops on creativity, patent searching and how to pitch your ideas. Sessions will be held late afternoon / early evening so that there are no timetable clashes for any BSc/MSc student.
Participation in the seminars/workshops awards 2 ECTS, those participants who submit an innovation award entry or invention disclosure or university proof of concept funding or any other funding application which includes an innovation linked activity are eligible for 5 ECTS. There will be an additional feedback workshop for 5 ECTS participants as well as a pitching session in February for top submissions.

The Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine Innovation Award is open to any FBMM BSc or MSc student. It will grant the winner 5000 euro for proof of concept funding to take the work forward. It is open to individuals or teams and the terms and conditions are equivalent to the university proof of concept funding. PhD students are not eligible for this innovation award, but they can apply for the university proof of concept funding and the new course is designed to support such an application.
