The Institute of Biotechnology, University of Helsinki has positions open for 2 PhD students to work on projects studying how the flow of cellular information is altered in cancer. Particular focus will be put on using quantitative mass spectrometry to identify the molecular context in which cancer-linked proteins such as kinases, phosphatases, and transcription factors function.
Interested and highly motivated students that are enthusiastic about the prospect of driving forefront research in an international environment are encouraged to apply. A strong background in biochemistry and molecular biology is an asset. Preliminary experience in cancer biology and/or proteomics would be advantageous, but not necessary. Good written and spoken English as well as the desire to work in a team-oriented environment are required.
The Institute of Biotechnology (BI) at the University of Helsinki is an independent research institute located at the Viikki Campus, where it forms part of the largest national life sciences alliance in Finland. The Institute provides excellent facilities to conduct interdisciplinary research in biochemistry and molecular biology. In addition, close collaborations with other groups at the Institute, in Meilahti campus and research institutes abroad are in place.
