The Systems Biology and Bioinformatics group at the Unit of Systems Toxicology and Nanosafety Research Center, Finnish Institute of Occupational Health (FIOH) is seeking candidates for the position of

PhD STUDENT IN SYSTEMS BIOLOGY

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The Systems Biology and Bioinformatics, led by Dr Dario Greco (https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Dario_Greco ), is conducting research in the following areas:

1.       Modeling the effects of engineered nanomaterials on the human health by systems biology approaches and computational predictions;

2.       Development of bioinformatics tools for the analysis of various OMICs data (e.g. transcriptome, methylome, microbiome, and proteome), data integration, selection of robust biomarkers, and inference of regulatory networks.

Additionally, it is involved in a number of collaborations involving the analysis and modeling of multi-OMICs data in the context of several diseases, especially related to allergy and asthma. Greco’s group consists of nine members, including the PI, with various backgrounds, including computer science, biochemistry, systems biology, bioinformatics, genetics and medicine. The group is currently funded by the Academy of Finland, the European Commission, and the Finnish Work and Environmental Fund. Greco’s group is also running the DNA microarray facility at FIOH. The work at the Systems Biology and Bioinformatics group is very exciting, dynamic, and highly multidisciplinary in a young and relaxed atmosphere. Greco’s laboratory is located in the Meilahti Biomedical Campus in Helsinki, Finland.
