I have had a number of people come to see me regarding graduating this year - in part connected with the UniOGS call for PhD positions and in part connected with the merger.
The current situation is:
1) If you want to graduate in 2013, the papers must be submitted to the Faculty of Science by 4th December. To be safe this means submitting your Pro Gradu thesis for grading no later than the first week of October.
2) If your papers are submitted for graduation on or after 1st Jan 2014 the degree will be awarded by the new Faculty.
3) Students who submit their papers between 5th to 31st December 2013, will probably be awarded a degree by the Faculty of Science in their January 2014 meeting.
Remember that to be eligible for a PhD position in Oulu you must get at least a grade 3 from your Pro Gradu - so do not rush it. Also please remember to check the final pdf you are going to submit to Laturi carefully, we can only mark work that is submitted.
Finally, we have had a number of plagiarism issues during 2013. As you all know plagiarism is a serious offence and is treated as such. If you are not sure what counts as plagiarism please see me, Tuomo or your tutor.
