The animal virus laboratory, led by docent Tero Ahola, at the Institute of Biotechnology (University of Helsinki) is looking for a PhD student.
The position is available starting immediately or as agreed with the selected candidate. The project studies the formation, function and structure of RNA virus replication complex. For a successful applicant, previous experience with virus work is not necessary, but good knowledge and skills in molecular and cell biology are required. We are seeking for motivated candidates with a strong interest in molecular biosciences, and capable of developing skills towards independent scientific work. The laboratory has long experience in studying the replication mechanisms of animal RNA viruses, using biochemical, virological and cell biological methods, including advanced fluorescence and electron microscopy. The Institute of Biotechnology provides excellent state-of-the-art facilities. General information concerning the group is available at www.biocenter.helsinki.fi/bi/animalvirus. The laboratory is well funded and includes two experienced post-docs.
The application should contain at least a cover letter, and curriculum vitae detailing the education and experience of the candidate, and the contact information of 2 references. Contact Tero Ahola for further information and applications (tero.ahola-at-helsinki.fi). Application deadline is March 15, or until an excellent candidate is found.
