Subject: [Bco] Graduate student/Project researcher position in novel
target molecules research group, UH
GRADUATE STUDENT/PROJECT RESEARCHER
POSITION AVAILABLE IN NOVEL TARGET MOLECULES RESEARCH GROUP
Project
title: Biology of malignant brain tumors
The
research of Novel Target Molecules Research Group focuses on identification and
characterization of molecules associated with cancer initiation, invasion and
metastasis. Currently, we are investigating malignant glioma, prostate
carcinoma and metastatic vs. non-metastatic melanoma cells. We also are
interested in targeting cancer therapeutics, e.g. gene therapy vectors,
chemotherapeutics and siRNAs, with the aid of peptides.
We
are looking for a highly motivated person with MSc or PhD degree to a project
investigating the biology of malignant brain tumors and development of targeted
therapies to gliomas. The specific aims of the project are to study the
functional role of a novel brain tumor-associated molecule in glioma
progression and invasion as well as to target experimental therapies with the
aid of brain tumor homing peptide(s). The research employs biochemical,
molecular biology, cell culture and biomedical imaging methods as well as
animal work.
The
position will be filled immediately after suitable person will be found.
The
site of research is at the Molecular Cancer Biology Research Program,
Biomedicum Helsinki, University of Helsinki, Haartmaninkatu 8, Helsinki,
Finland.
The
application with the letter of motivation, CV and two names of referees should
be sent as soon as possible to:
Prof.
Pirjo Laakkonen by email to pirjo.laakkonen@Helsinki.fi
