The objectives of FragNet are to (a) train a cohort of Early Stage Researchers (MSc degree) across FBLD methods and (b) develop individual skills in research into either new methods
in FBLD or to apply FBLD to interrogate biological systems.
We are looking for highly motivated and talented students with a MSc degree who are interested in an ambitious multidisciplinary project on Fragment-Based Lead Discovery (FBLD).
At this moment we have 15 vacancies, more information at
http://www.fragnet.eu/index.php/recruitment
The deadline for applications has been extended to February 12th. Applicants
should be available for the FRAGNET recruitment day on March 11th 2016. Invitations and travel arrangements will be made by FRAGNET not later than February 19th.
In some cases, candidates will be invited for a preliminary (Skype or VoIP) interview in the week following the application deadline.

A PhD student
position in the Cutaneous Lymphoma research group lead by Professor Annamari Ranki.
We are seeking a devoted student with previous experience and recognized knowledge of molecular biology and cell culturing methods. In this project, we will study our recent original observations relevant for the pathogenesis
and prognosis of primary cutaneous lymphomas (CTCL). The project includes functional cell culture studies on the significance of a HERV-W-encoded protein in CTCL cells.
For the group details, see:
www.kll.helsinki.fi/tietoa/docs/ihotaudit/ResearchsummaryRankigroup.pdf
Both positions
must be applied by February 1st 2016, by sending your application in an electronic form to
Annamari.Ranki@hus.fi.
The application should include a) CV, b) list of publications, c) a letter

Research Programs Unit of the Faculty
of Medicine is a top-quality research environment. Unit’s six research program comprises groups that integrate clinical, translational and biomedical research.
Translational Cancer Biology applies multiple
genetic engineering and stem cell methods, RNAi and chemical biology technologies to investigate tumors in their microenvironment, to identify new therapeutic molecules affecting genetic driver programs in cancer, and to perform systematic analysis of factors
contributing to cellular signaling, reprogramming, migration, and invasion. Research in the
Ojala Group
aims to understand the molecular circuits contributing to cancer cell metastasis, with a special focus on cancers disseminating through the lymphatic system. To this end they are investigating
the interactions of cancer cells with the lymphatic endothelial cells (LECs) using several co-culture cell models to mimic the cancer cell-LEC interactions
in vivo. Ojala Group also continues its previous work to study
the virus-host interactions involved in pathogenesis of Kaposi’s sarcoma herpesvirus (KSHV), an oncogenic gamma-2 herpesvirus.
Ojala group invites applications for a position of
POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER / PhD Student in cancer cell- tumor microenvironment interactions
project till 31.12.2017, starting as soon as possible. Trial period of four months will be applied.
The research aims to identify the molecular circuits resulting from interaction of melanoma cells with the stromal lymphatic endothelial
cells (LECs) and their contribution to melanoma metastasis. Revealing the key signalling cascades induced by these interactions is crucial for the intervention of metastasis and for improving the very poor prognosis of metastatic melanoma. For this project
we have developed several co-culture cell models to mimic the melanoma-LEC interactions
in vivo and apply a variety of technologies including high-content quantitative imaging, deep sequencing, signaling, adhesion and invasion assays, tumor models and genome editing.
The successful applicant should be
enthusiastic and highly-motivated for research and have a PhD or Master’s degree in genetics, cell/molecular biology, biomedicine, or other appropriate field. Previous
experience in cell and tissue culture, imaging, or animal work is considered advantageous. Good written and oral skills in English and a good ability to work in a team are a necessity.
Salary will be based on the Universities salary scheme for teaching and research personnel composed of both task specific (demand level 5 for Postdoctoral researchers and demand level 2 for Doctoral
students) and personal performance components.
Please submit your application by January 31, 2016 using the University of Helsinki Recruitment System via this link:
