Graduate student position is available at the Institute of Biotechnology, University of Helsinki, in the Helsinki Bioenergetics group.

The general interest of our lab is to investigate the molecular mechanisms of the enzymes that couple redox reactions with the translocation of proton or sodium ion across the membrane and therefore generate electrochemical ion gradient, which can be used for formation of ATP and other energy-requiring cellular processes. Biophysical and biochemical approaches as well as molecular biology are used in our studies. Our lab is developing the methods that allow following the enzyme turnover in real time.

The position is available from 1 April 2010.
