POST-DOC (PhD student) POSITION IN MOUSE CANCER GENETICS

A post-doctoral position in mouse cancer genetics is available in the laboratory of Jukka Westermarck at the Centre for Biotechnology,  University of Turku, Turku, Finland (http://www.btk.fi/index.php? id=1279). Also PhD students with solid previous experience on working  with genetically modified mouse models can be considered for the  position. CIP2A is a novel clinically relevant human oncoprotein recently identifed by our laboratory (Junttila, et al., Cell, 130, 2007). Current results clearly indicate that CIP2A might be a potential target protein for future cancer therapies. The aim of the project is test this hypothesis and to study the in vivo oncogenic role of CIP2A by using a conditional CIP2A knock-out mouse models

recently developed in our laboratory. Especially the focus of the project will be in in vivo tumorigenesis experiments addressing whether conditional depletion of CIP2A would have therapeutic potential. Position is available immediately and candidates will be considered until the positions are filled. Position is initially for two years with a possibility to extension depending on the progress of the project.
