PhD Student position available on RNA biology/biochemistry at the Genome Biology program, Institute of Biotechnology, University of Helsinki. The project investigates genome-wide functions of pre-mRNA splicing using a combination a combination of molecular biology methods and bioinformatics. The research is supported by Academy of Finland, Biocentrum Helsinki, and Sigrid Juselius Foundation. A successful candidate should have a MSc or an equivalent in an appropriate field (Genetic, biochemistry, bioinformatics etc) and strong experience on either molecular biology (specifically DNA/RNA methods) or bioinformatics (in particularly handling of large genome-wide dataset). Any experience on deep sequencing methods would be an asset. More information on the laboratory research topic can be found from the laboratory web pages (www.biocenter.helsinki.fi/bi/splicing).
Application should include a CV, information on education (topics and grades), a statement describing your research interests, and preferably contact information for two former supervisors or mentors who can provide references.
