MSc student position open in the group of Dr. Inari Kursula, Department of Biochemistry, University of Oulu and Centre for Structural Systems Biology, DESY, Hamburg
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated student with a keen interest in protein chemistry and structural biology to join our young and dynamic group for an MSc (pro gradu) project for about six months, starting as soon as possible. The work can be performed in our laboratories either in Oulu or Hamburg, or shared between both.
My group is working on proteins regulating the actin-based motility of the malaria parasite (Plasmodium). The exact topic of the offered project can be negotiated, somewhat depending on the interests of the candidate. The methods to be used will include some or all of the following: cloning, protein expression and purification using bacterial and baculovirus systems, biochemical and biophysical characterization of protein-protein interactions (SPR, ITC, fluorescence spectroscopy…), fluorescence microscopy, protein crystallization, diffraction data collection, and structure determination.
