THIRTEEN BIOCENTER OULU DOCTORAL PROGRAMME (BCO-DP) PhD STUDENT POSITIONS

 

 

The bioinstitute Biocenter Oulu is the spearhead organization of biotechnology and molecular medicine at the University of Oulu, Finland. The research of our project groups covers areas of biomedicine, molecular and cell biology, biochemistry, developmental biology, genetics, structural biology and bioinformatics. The Biocenter Oulu Doctoral Programme (BCO-DP), which is operating under the University of Oulu Graduate School (UniOGS), is one of the largest programmes in its field in Finland. BCO-DP has regularly been rated as excellent when reviewed by the Academy of Finland and the Ministry of Education and Culture. BCO-DP invites applications for 13 doctoral training positions for 2012-2015, funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture. The positions are available from the 1st of January, 2012, for postgraduate students wishing to conduct research completing in PhD degree in one of the Biocenter Oulu projects ongoing in 2012-2015. The tenure of the studentships is up to a maximum of 4 years, including a trial period of up to four months. The PhD students are offered an excellent research training programme organized by the BCO-DP and UniOGS, including basic and advanced courses as well as transferable skills. Doctoral studies are undertaken in the supervision of the affiliated principal investigators.

 

The applicants should hold a M.Sc., Med.Lic. or an equivalent degree in a relevant field of bioscience or biomedicine by the end of 2011. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated young researchers who are able to work in teams and who have a good command of English. The salary for the positions will be based on levels 1-4 of the demands level chart for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities, supplemented by personal work performance up to 46.3% of the job demands level (scale from 1716 to approximately 3400 Euros/month).
