Research Programs Unit is part of the Faculty of Medicine based in the Meilahti campus, University of Helsinki and it employs 300 people with the annual budget of over 17 million euros. The unit does high standard international medical research.

The Translational Cancer Biology (TCB) Research Program is a new program starting at the beginning of 2013. TCB is a diverse and lively international research community comprising of 9 research groups. The work environment enables one to follow and participate in top research in Finland.

A position for a

DOCTORAL STUDENT

is now open. The post will be filled as soon as a competitive candidate is identified. The length of the position will be discussed further at the interview, and is initially fixed until 31.7.2014 with a four-month trial period. The salary will be based on the university salary system.

The research group investigates the mechanisms regulating endothelial cell functions that further control the growth of blood and lymphatic vessels in cancer and vascular associated diseases. By using cell and molecular biological and in vivo approaches we aim to identify molecules and pathways regulating the vasculature, and to find potential therapeutic targets to treat diseases. We offer a dynamic research environment with the state-of the art facilities at the Biomedicum Helsinki.

A strong background in cell or molecular biology, biochemistry, biology or other relevant background is required.
