Ph.D. student / Deep subsurface geomicrobiology

Job description: VTT is looking for a creative Ph.D. student to work on deep subsurface geomicrobial processes in Finnish bedrock and groundwater. The aim is to develop molecular biological methods for deep subsurface microbial studies and to generate understanding of the geobiochemical processes. The project is a collaboration between VTT (Technical Research Centre of Finland) and GTK (Geological Survey of Finland). Expectations: Background in environmental microbiology and molecular biological methods is required. Additional knowledge on geobiochemistry and bioinformatics is considered advantageous
