BioMediTech conducts world-class basic and translational research in biomedicine and medical technology. Its research activities cover diverse fields, including biomaterials, stem cells, cancer, immunology, biosensors, imaging, and computational methods, with a common aim of developing personalized medicine via new diagnostic and treatment methods (http://www.biomeditech.fi/home.php). Institute of Biomedical Technology is one of the members of BioMediTech (http://www.uta.fi/ibt/).
Protein dynamics research group (http://www.biomeditech.fi/research/biotechnology.php#1) is looking for a graduate student to work in the field of structure-function relationship of proteins.
The aim is to study the importance of local protein unfolding in the regulation of cellular function.
We utilize a broad range of tools including computational modeling and simulations, mutagenesis, overexpression, microscopic methods and biophysical analysis tools to study the molecular mechanisms.
The successful applicant will focus on experimental work aiming for understanding of the properties of selected key proteins. The applicant will utilize mutagenesis as a tool to understand and control the molecular features of the proteins. The ultimate aim is to develop models of the protein behavior and to understand, how local unfolding may be related to cellular functions and differentiation.
Applicants should be near completion or hold a degree in biological science subject (molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics) or in medicine. Salary according to the Finnish Universities? New Salary System depends on experience. Start date: negotiable. Application deadline: 20.01.2012. Please send a short application, your CV and two reference letters.
