Age-associated alterations in human immune system

Description on project and work assigned

The project which is suitable for pursuing a Ph.D degree in medicine or biology is part of a research project funded by the Academy of Finland. The work is being done at the Dept. of Microbiology and Immunology, Medical School in the University of Tampere. The project deals with the human immune system, with special emphasis on inflammatory mechanisms, and its functions with advancing age. The methods used include gene expression and methylation analysis as well as other related techniques.

A successful applicant should have basic understanding of cell biology, molecular biology and immunology, and knowledge on common

techniques applied in these fields of study. Also, an academic degree is required.
