Doctoral Training Positions at Turku Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (TuBS)
The Turku Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (TuBS) invites applications for international four-year doctoral training positions for 2010- 2013 (http://www.tubs.utu.fi/)
PhD students are offered an excellent research training program, including basic and advanced courses in biomedical research as well as transferrable skills. Doctoral studies are undertaken in the supervision of affiliated principal investigators. The goal is to achieve a doctoral degree within the four-year period.
The salary for the present posts will be based on the salary system of Finnish universities.

The new updated application procedure:
1. Submitting the application (deadline Oct 31,2009) Evaluation of submitted applications by the TuBS board members: Suitable candidates will be called to phase 2. Mark the date on your calendar since the invitations to short problem essay will be sent as a late notice. 2. Short problem essay from given material eg. scientific article/one page synopsis on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at 14-15, place: Auditorium of Microbiological Institute, Mikro, Kiinamyllynkatu 13) 3. Oral presentations. Some applicants will be invited for an interview by the board of TuBS. In this interview the selected applicants will give an oral presentation (3 power point -slides in 5 minutes) on their research proposal, followed by questions from the board members. 4. Final selection of PhD students
After being selected to TuBS, a prerequisite for continuing to study in TuBS graduate school is passing the Molecular and Cell Biology - examination which must be passed during the first year of the studies. The exam will be organised during the upcoming autumn semester 2010. The suggested reading for the examination is Alberts, Johnson, Lewis, Raff, Roberts, Walter (2008): Molecular Biology of the Cell . 5th edition, Garland Science, New York
