The baseball season is at hand again for this year and the university is organizing a league for teams. Histoni has been participating in the league for at least the last two years if I remember correctly and I certainly hope we can get a team together and destroy all opposition this year as well.

For those that've never heard of finnish baseball, which is the national sport of Finland, Wikipedia has a good overview of the sport at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pes%C3%A4pallo

At the moment it seems like the league will run in early-ish May and the deadline for team registration is monday 26th of this month. If I remember correctly again, the games on previous years were played after 1600 hours, so work shouldn't necessarily pose a problem to anyone.

I'm trying to figure out if we've got enough eager and willing players to form a team, so if you'd like to play, toss me an e-mail or let me know some other way. We need at least three women for every game if we're going to register for the mixed-teams league, so ladies, here is a fun and easy way to get in bikini shape for the summer!

Last but not least, I'd like to emphasize that everyone is welcome to join the team and that no previous experience in pesäpallo is required. We'll try to have a few practice sessions before the league starts so everyone will have the opportunity to shake off the rust after a long winter or get familiar with the sport. Any gear required for playing will be provided by the university, so don't worry about any of that.
