The next Ph.D. Thesis defenses take place next week Tuesday, December 18th as follows: at 9 in lecture hall L10 Fumi Suomi http://www.hallinto.oulu.fi/viestin/vaitos12/suomi.html at 13 in lecture hall L6 Antti Hassinen (this one in Finnish) http://www.hallinto.oulu.fi/viestin/vaitos12/hassinen.html Everyone is welcome! A short instruction for attending Ph.D. Thesis defense: You must be present in the lecture hall by 9 (or 13) o’clock SHARP, although the actual defense begins at 15 minutes past the hour. The first ca. 30 to 40 minutes is reserved for the lection by the candidate and for opponent’s speech. It is NOT allowed to enter or leave during this time. Later during the actual defense discussion one may enter or leave if necessary. There is no dress code; for the audience the defense is normal academic routine.
