Researcher position (postdoc or MSc depending on qualifications) is open in Academy of Finland research project “Adult Vascular Endothelial Stem Cells (VESCs)”, at Salven lab at Haartman Institute, University of Helsinki.

Salven lab at Haartman Institute, University of Helsinki focuses on molecular cellular biology of adult stem cells in angiogenesis and cancer. We are recruiting a researcher, a post doc or possibly a MSc depending on qualifications. The position is funded by the Academy of Finland research project “Adult Vascular Endothelial Stem Cells (VESCs)”, funding period 2012 – 2016. Requirements The experimental setups include in vivo mouse models of stem differentiation, angiogenesis, and cancer, as well as in vitro models of cellular growth and differentiation. Transgenic animal models with genomic markers such as GFP are extensively used. Mouse cells and tissues are examined using various imaging and other cellular analysis techniques including immunofluorescence microscopy, confocal laser scanning microscopy, and FACS. The candidate should have hands on experience on most of our central methods. The researcher should also be experienced and talented in independent processing and writing of scientific articles. The project has already now produced several yet unpublished important findings and the postdoctoral researcher will have a central role in contributing to timely publishing of these results. The position will be filled immediately for a minimum of one year. Salary is based on the standards of the University of Helsinki.
