"Kaamos" describes the polar night during winter time

This year's 11th Kaamos-Symposium, organised by the Department of Biology, will be held on Monday 10.12. and Tuesday 11.12.2007 at the University of Oulu, lecture hall YB210. As in the previous symposia our goal is to cover all areas of research conducted at the Department of Biology in Oulu and connected institutions. There is no teaching at our department during the time of the symposium, so that everybody, teachers and students, are able to attend to the symposium.

Students, both Master students and PhD students, who participate in the whole symposium and write a summary of one talk, will get 1 study week (2 study points).

There will be a poster session as well on Tuesday, 11.12. just after the concluding remarks. The poster session will be held at the Botanical Gardens of the University. The Gardens are located on the northern edge of the Linnanmaa university campus, close to Lake Kuivasjärvi. The street address is Kaitoväylä 5. Walking distance is about 5 minutes. The poster session will lead smoothly over to the symposium party, where coffee, snacks and refreshments will be served. Another good possibility to talk and get to know everybody, as last year's participants can report.

Everybody, researchers, staff as well as graduate, undergraduate and exchange students in Biology and related fields, are very welcome to listen to the presentations, poster session and to the following symposium party!!!

For you students it is an excellent opportunity to see what kind of research is conducted at the Department of Biology and to make contacts and to talk with our researchers about your plans and possible research topics for your Master and/or PhD theses.
