A successful candidate will participate in the identification of novel genes involved in hereditary predisposition to breast cancer by various approches (screening of candidate genes acting in suitable biological pathways, SNP association analysis, etc.), functional and clinical assessment of observed constitutional gene alterations, as well as characterization and comparison of somatic DNA aberration profiles between different breast carcinoma subgroups.
Our research team has recently identified multiple novel breast cancer susceptibility genes. Particularly the founder mutations observed in /PALB2/ and /RAD50 /seem important in the Finnish population.
