The Institute of Biotechnology, University of Helsinki has researcher position open for a computational biologist/bioinformatician (MSc or Postdoctoral level) to work on projects studying cellular signaling and how it is altered in human cancer. Particular focus will be on using quantitative mass spectrometry to 1) identify the molecular context in which cancer-linked proteins such as kinases, phosphatases, and transcription factors function 2) detect specific protein phosphorylation changes from cell lines and patient samples.
Interested and highly motivated applicants that are enthusiastic about the prospect of driving forefront research in an international environment are encouraged to apply. A strong background in computational biology/bioinformatics is an asset. Good written and spoken English as well as the desire to work in a team-oriented environment are required.
The Institute of Biotechnology (BI) at the University of Helsinki is an independent research institute located at the Viikki Campus, where it forms part of the largest national life sciences alliance in Finland. The Institute provides excellent facilities to conduct interdisciplinary research in biochemistry and molecular biology. In addition, close collaborations with other groups at the Institute, in Meilahti campus and research institutes abroad are in place.
