A PhD student position is available at the Public Health Genetics Unit, National Institute for Health and Welfare, Biomedicum, Helsinki under the supervision of Adj.prof. Matti Jauhiainen. The research project is entitled
"Angiopoietin like proteins (Angptl) 3 and 4 as biomarkers and therapeutic targets in obesity and cardiovascular disease" with a special reference to verify the function of Angptl3 and 4 using cell culture systems such as human hepatocytes and white/brown adipocytes. The practical research work will utilize modern molecular biology, cell biology and cell culture tools. Previous laboratory experience in molecular biology and/or biochemistry is desirable.
The selected candidate will be funded by the grants already available for this project.
Eligible candidates must have gained Master´s or corresponding (licentiate in medicine) degree in Life/Biomedical Sciences from a Finnish or foreign university.
