You may attend the symposium even if you have not registered in advance. 3R Symposium: Smart Science, Kind Practices – Advancing Animal Welfare Together The Animal Welfare Body of Oulu Laboratory Animal Centre, together with Health and Biosciences Doctoral Programme, University of Oulu Graduate School, welcome you to a full-day 3R symposium on Wednesday, 11 February 2026 at 9:00 – 15:00. The symposium will be held at the University of Oulu, Kontinkangas campus, Aapistie 5A, Leena Palotie Hall (101A). Participation in the event is considered as part of the annual maintenance training required by law for persons conducting research on experimental animals. Those who attend the whole symposium will get a certificate of attendance after the event by email. Attending the whole seminar gives 0,5 ECTS. Dear All, I would like to share that I have been given the opportunity to serve as Guest Editor for a new JoVE Methods Collection titled: **Integrated Nanomaterial Platforms for Biomedicine: Synthesis, Natural Nanoparticle Isolation, Engineering, and Applications.** JoVE is renowned for its video-based visualization of experimental methods, making it an invaluable resource for teaching and training. This was a key reason I agreed to serve as Guest Editor. Throughout my graduate studies and even now, I have learned new techniques, particularly involving animal procedures, through JoVE videos when starting new experiments. Moreover, I confirmed with UniOgs that this type of methods/video manuscript counts towards PhD graduation requirements, provided it is limited to one such publication per student. This presents a valuable opportunity for PhD students as well. If you have a unique or well-established protocol that would benefit from visual representation, this format will be helpful for teaching. It is particularly useful for undergraduates, new PhD students, and newcomers to the field, and it also promotes reproducible lab practices. If you are interested, please start by submitting a short abstract (100–150 words) here: [Submit Abstract](https://app.jove.com/methods-collections/4515/integrated-nanomate… under the collection title. If you or one of your students are interested, please let me know. The full paper would be due after invitation and discussion of the video plan, tentatively by April 6, 2026 (or another agreed date). To be transparent about costs, JoVE charges a flat publication fee that includes professional video production.
