RESEARCH COUNCIL OF FINLAND
Water4All 2024 -Joint Transnational Call: Water for Circular Economyhttps://www.aka.fi/tutkimusrahoitus/hae-rahoitusta/haut/kv-haut/water4all-2024-kumppanuushaku-water-for-circular-economy/ DL 13.11.2024 The call will support research to improve global water security in the long term. The call has two stages (preproposals and full proposals). Each consortium must be composed of at least three eligible partners that request funding from participating organisations from three different countries participating in the call.
Biodiversa+ transnational joint call Transformative Change: BiodivTransformhttps://www.aka.fi/en/research-funding/apply-for-funding/calls-for-applications/international-calls/biodiversa-kumppanuushaku-biodiversity-and-transformative-change/ DL November 2024 The call has two stages. The deadline for pre-proposals is in November 2024, and the deadline for full proposals is 14 April 2022. The BiodivTransform Call aims to support interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary, and/or cross-sectoral research and innovation projects that will:
* Help understand trade-offs and cross-linkages between the worldwide crises of biodiversity loss, climate change and pollution; * Identify, analyse, and comprehend transformation processes that may safeguard biodiversity by mitigating its threats and halt – even reverse – its decline, as well as the benefits it may provide to people. This call adopts a bottom-up approach and intentionally does not define research themes.
Research Council of Finlandhttps://www.aka.fi/en/about-us/whats-new/blog/2024/academy-professor-applications-to-open-in-autumn-2024-in-connection-with-winter-call/ - Winter call 2025, DL 8.1.2025 The Research Council of Finland’s (RCF) winter call is set to open in early November (expected call dates 13.11.2024-8.1.2025), and the preparations for it should start as soon as possible. This year, the RCF has four different possibilities for applicants to choose from. However, each applicant can only submit a single application as the Principal Investigator (PI), and therefore it is important to choose the right one!
-The Academy Project is open to all fields of science and can be applied by individual research teams or by a consortium. The PI must have a doctorate and other significant merits (e.g. professor, docent, adjunct professor). Projects last for four years and funding is provided for research team salaries and other research costs including travel and international mobility.
-The Academy Research Fellowship is aimed at talented early-career researchers whose doctoral certificate is awarded between 1 Jan 2018 – 31 Jan 2023. The purpose is to increase the fellow’s competencies and make significant career progress towards more demanding research position producing high-quality and high-impact research. The Fellowship lasts 4 years and funding is provided for the fellow’s own salary, research team salaries and other research costs.
-The Academy Programme for Sport Science and Physical Activity aims to advance the quality, renewal and impact of research on physical activity and sports. This three-year project provides funding for research team salaries and other direct research costs.
-The Academy Professor funding is opened again after some years and applications are for six years with funding for the professor’s own salary, research team salaries and other research costs. The themes are:
* Economy and welfare in an era of strategic competition * Skills, labour supply and migration in future Finland. The cross-cutting priority for the upcoming research programmes is artificial intelligence.
The SRC is tasked with providing funding for long-term excellent research that is aimed at finding solutions to the major challenges facing Finnish society. In addition, strategic research strengthens the regeneration and competitiveness of business and industry and supports the development of work and the public sector.
