Tiedoksi EMA:n koulutukset: Two upcoming on-line events hosted by EMA with relation to the release of CTIS: * October 26th 2021: Clinical Trials Information System (CTIS): Virtual information day The aim of this event is to help future CTIS users prepare for submitting and evaluating clinical trial applications in CTIS after its go-live on 31 January 2022. This event will present a high-level overview of CTIS and there will take place a live demonstration of the system's restricted workspaces. Virtanen Institute for Molecular Sciences and the Institute of Biomedicine are institutes housing an international staff of 350 full-time scientists. We are now inviting applications for Research Director / Senior Researcher (Gene and cell technology) The research is to be done in close collaboration with scientists from different research groups within UEF’s Neuroscience Research Community (NEURO-RC, see https://www.uef.fi/en/research-community/neuroscience-neuro ).The research activities of NEURO-RC have been evaluated by an international panel in 2019, assessing them to be of an outstanding quality in international comparison. The goal of NEURO-RC is to understand the disease-specific and common molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases and epilepsy, and to identify biomarkers and novel therapeutic approaches for their prevention and cure by merging biological and computational neurosciences. To take our research beyond state-of-the-art, NEURO-RC combines unique preclinical and clinical datasets of molecular omics to mechanistic and biomarker studies conducted in humanized disease models, and multilevel analyses performed using neuro-informatics-based approaches. Moreover, studies related to lifestyle and environmental factors will be integrated to these activities. The Research Director/Senior Researcher will work both as a technology expert within the NEURO-RC, and as an independent group leader. The responsibilities also include supervision of doctoral theses, possibly teaching, and acquisition of external funding. We seek applications from highly committed researchers with international experience and an outstanding scientific track record in genetic engineering. An ideal candidate will have a strong background in state-of-the art gene transfer and genome editing technologies for in vitro and/or in vivo approaches. Candidates are welcome to propose a highly innovative research project thematically linked to the scientific mission of the Neuroscience Research Community and being complementary to the existing research carried out in the community. The successful candidate is expected to actively collaborate within our interdisciplinary research community and take advantage of the infrastructures and networks available at UEF. Experience in leading a research team, a strong track record in publishing and gaining research funding and collaborating with other research teams are considered an advantage. The Research Director/Senior Researcher will be affiliated with the A. I. Virtanen Institute for Molecular Sciences (https://www.uef.fi/en/unit/ai-virtanen-institute-for-molecular-sciences) and will have access to the existing research infrastructure. We provide an opportunity to pursue an independent research project for five years. The position includes a yearly budget of 30 000 € for personnel and direct project costs. A person to be appointed as a Research Director/Senior Researcher shall hold a suitable doctoral degree and have good teaching skills. The position will be filled for a five-year term starting on 1 January 2022 or as agreed. The position is a fixed-term position due to it pertaining to a specific project. A probationary period will be applied to new members of the university staff. The salary of the position is determined in accordance with the salary system of Finnish universities and is based on level 6-7 of the job requirement level chart for teaching and research staff (3,498.98 - 4,033.80), In addition to the job requirement component, the salary includes a personal performance component, which may be a minimum of 6 % and a maximum of 50% of the job requirement component. Depending on the personal performance component, the salary will be approximately 3,708.92 - 4,921.24 €/month at the beginning of the employment relationship. Laminaarien pesu / Cleaning of laminars

Hei, Minulle ilmoitettiin, että CRC:n laminaarit pestäisiin 7.10. ja 8.10. Pesut tekee ISS. Ensimmäisenä päivänä (7.10.) pestäisiin pelkästään soluviljelytilojen laminaarit ja sitten toisena päivänä muut laminaarit. Pesut tehdään hyvin aikaisin aamulla. Onko tämä aikataulu ok? Pesujen jälkeen meidän pitää itse pyyhkiä laminaarit etanolilla ja olisko hyvä myös pitää UV-lamppuja hetki päällä. Hi, I was informed that the CRC laminars would be cleaned on 7.10. and 8.10. The cleaning is done by ISS. On the first day (7.10.) only the laminars of the cell culture rooms are cleaned and then on the second day the other laminars. Cleaning is done very early in the morning. Is this schedule ok? After cleaning, we have to wipe the laminars ourselves with ethanol and it would also be good to keep the UV lamps on for a while. Meillä on ollut oma erillinen koulutuksen koronaryhmä, joka on kokoontunut säännöllisesti ratkomaan koronaan liittyviä opetusjärjestelyjä ja muita vastaavia asioita. Tiistaina 28.9.2021 pidimme toistaiseksi viimeisen koulutuksen koronaryhmän kokouksen. Kutsumme ryhmän tarvittaessa koolle, mutta säännölliset tapaamiset ovat nyt päättyneet. Ryhdymme myös seuraamaan koronatiedotuksen osalta yliopiston ohjeita sellaisenaan. Tämä tarkoittaa sitä, että dekaanin erikseen lääketieteelliselle tiedekunnalle lähettämät viestit korona-ajan ohjeistuksineen päättyvät tähän. Dear students and staff of the Faculty of Medicine, During the Covid-19 pandemic Dean of the faculty has informed you regularly about Covid-19 related restrictions and their effects on organizing teaching at the faculty. Faculty´s covid-19 work group in education has organized meetings regularly for discussing and solving these and other Covid-19 related matters. For the present the group held its last meeting on Tuesday 28th of Sept, 2021. The group will not meet regularly anymore, but will be convened, when necessary. From now on we will start to follow covid-19 information and instructions published by university and no further Covid-19 related messages or instructions from Dean will follow. Naturally, we will return to this practice, if necessary. Want to thank you all for enabling work and decision making and advancing studies in these exceptional times.
