This workshop covers similar topics as our previous course "In silico identification of transcriptional regulatory regions", but in more depth. Hei (This note is only in Finnish about lecturing in a school in Kemi) Kemin lukiosta Kauko Kemppinen on ottanut yhteyttä geenitutkimuksen teemapäivästä torstaina 27.5. Heillä on aiemminkin ollut vastaavia ja viimeksi joku Helsingin yliopistosta kertomassa genetiikan tutkimuksesta. Nyt he toivovat esittäjää Oulusta. Toiveena on, että pidettäisiin noin 45 minuutin esitys siitä, mitä laitoksella tutkitaan (voi viittailla geneettiseen tutkimukseen laajemminkin) ja osallistuttaisiin paneelikeskusteluun, jossa on mukana joku lääkäri, juristi, filosofi jne. Aikaa tämä vie varmaan koko työpäivän ja koulu maksaa matkat ja esiintymispalkkiot. Aiempi teemapäivä oli innostanut oppilaita pyrkimään biologiaa opiskelemaan, joten osallistuminen on ihan toivottavaa. Itse olen samaan aikaan vastaväittäjänä Helsingissä, mutta minulla PowerPoint-esitys tutkimustoiminnastamme (pidetty meidän ensimmäisen vuoden opiskelijoille). Sitä voisi ehkä käyttää pohjana.
