Tässä vaiheen III tutkimuksessa arvioidaan uudella tavalla valmistettua, nelitehoista influenssarokotetta. Kausi-influenssaa aiheuttavat kaksi A- ja kaksi B-virustyyppiä. Useimmat käytössä olevat influenssarokoteeet sisältävät vain kolmea eri virustyyppiä eivätkä siten takaa riittäävää suojatehoa. Nelitehoinen rokote sisältää suojan kaikkia neljää Suomessa influenssaa aiheuttavaa virustyyppiä vastaan. Myös tutkittavan rokotteen uusi kasviperäinen valmistustapa lisää rokotteen tehoa. Kasvissa tuotetun rokotteen sisältämä viruskanta saadaan aiempaa tarkemmin vastaamaan influenssakaudella kiertäviä virustyyppejä. Kasviperäinen rokote sopii myös kananmuna-allergiselle. Tutkimukseen osallistuvat saavat yhden annoksen joko uutta kasivperäistä nelitehoista kausi-influenssarokotetta tai verrokkirokotetta (lumelääke). Influenssan kaltaisten oireiden esiintyessä tutkittavilta otetaan tarvittaessa nenänäyte. Tutkimus kestää noin 8–10 kk. Tutkimukseen voi osallistua kaikilla Suomen rokotetutkimusklinikoilla Helsingissä, Espoossa, Järvenpäässä, Tampereella, Turussa, Porissa, Seinäjoella, Kokkolassa ja Oulussa. Hyvät tiedekunnan tutkijat, avustava henkilöstö ja opiskelijat, BMTK:n tehtävä on valita dekaanit seuraavalle toimikaudelle. Yliopiston johtosäännön §12 mukaisesti rehtori nimeää sekä dekaanin että koulutusdekaanin kuultuaan tiedekuntia. Määräaikaan mennessä biokemian ja molekyylilääketieteen tiedekunnan dekaanin tehtävään ilmoittautui professori Peppi Karppinen ja koulutusdekaanin tehtävään yliopistonlehtori Tuomo Glumoff. Tiedekunnan virkaiältäni toiseksi vanhimpana professorina kutsun Teidät, tiedekunnan henkilöstön ja opiskelijat kuulemaan näitä dekaanin ja koulutusdekaanin tehtäviin ilmoittautuneita hakijoita. Eng in 18 rows below Noniin eli tänään olis tarkotus pelailla vähän lentopalloo. Vuoro alkaa 17.30 ja loppuu 18.40, paikkana toimii jälleen Oulun normaalikoulun liikuntasali. Lisänä vielä että jos ei lentopallo kiinnosta, 1840 eteenpäin alkaa sählyvuoro johon voi myös jäädä pelailemaan. Itse tulen sinne maaliin. Rohkeasti vain mukaan pelailemaan ja tutustumaan kiltalaisiin. Pro Gadu-kysely: Vaatteiden kustomointipalvelut - tulevaisuuden vaateshoppailua

Arvoisa Histonin jäsen, nyt on mahdollisuus olla mukana mullistamassa maailman tekstiilimarkkinoita uudelle aikakaudelle. Aikakaudelle, jossa ekologisuus, eettisyys, persoonallisuus ja teknologia yhdistyvät ennennäkemättömällä tavalla. Tämä on pieni askel opiskelijalle, mutta suuri harppaus ihmiskunnalle. Tähän maailmaa mullistavaan muutokseen liittyen teen VTT:llä ”Vaatteiden kustomointipalvelut” -kyselytutkimusta sekä gradua vaatteiden ja kodintekstiilien digitaalisista kustomointipalveluista. Kyselyn tavoitteena on kartoittaa suomalaisten ostokäyttäytymistä ja tarpeita vaatteiden kustomointipalveluihin liittyen. Kysely on osa Teknologian tutkimuskeskus VTT:n vetämää projektia, jossa tutkitaan digitalisaation tuomien mahdollisuuksien hyödyntämistä suomalaisessa vaate- ja tekstiiliteollisuudessa. Kyselyyn vastaaminen kestää akateemisen vartin verran. Kaikki vastaukset käsitellään luottamuksella, eikä tulosyhteenvedoista voi tunnistaa yksittäisiä vastauksia. The University of Helsinki is among the leading multidisciplinary research universities in the world. In addition to its 11 faculties, the University includes several independent institutes, some of which are jointly operated with other universities. Over 30,000 students are pursuing an undergraduate or a postgraduate degree at the University of Helsinki. The Department of Veterinary Biosciences performs research in anatomy, developmental biology, biochemistry, physiology, genetics, microbiology, pathology and epidemiology, and gives education in these fields. The department is known for research on host-microbe interactions, and hosts one of the leading laboratories in the research of the development of the bovine immune system. We are located at the Viikki Campus, which is one of the largest centers of biosciences research and education in Europe. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for the position of a DOCTORAL STUDENT OR POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER for a fixed period, starting as soon as possible, but preferably latest by 2 January 2018. The employmentship is until the end of 2019 for a doctoral student or approximately 18 months for a postdoctoral researcher. The research project has existing funding until the end of 2019. Further funding is being applied. The position is at the Department of Veterinary Biosciences, in a research project investigating the prenatal microbiota and its interactions with the developing intestinal immune system. The mammalian fetus has traditionally been thought to develop in a sterile uterine environment. Recent research indicates that the maternal microbiota influences the fetus and may be essential for the proper development of the immune system. It is however not yet known whether live microbes exist in the fetus and what is the actual physiological significance of the prenatal host-microbe interactions. We study cattle and other domestic species in which the intestinal microbiota is especially interesting and important, and in which it can be studied more thoroughly than in humans. We are currently in the process of publishing the first results of the project.
