All new user trainings have been cancelled. Staff focuses on maintaining the instruments and urgent trouble-shooting. Independent usage of the systems is possible with the following regulations in addition to strict hygiene instructions: 1. Only one user per session is allowed to work with a microscope. If the room has two microscopes, please follow the rule to keep the safe distance, or try to book the systems so, that it is possible to work alone in the room. 2. Avoid using oculars, but if they are used, wipe them clean with soft tissue soaked with 70% ethanol. DO NOT rub the glass, focus on cleaning the parts of the eyepiece (plastic/rubber cups) possibly touching your skin. Use your eye glasses if possible. 3. Usage of clean gloves is recommend when operating devices, keyboard and mouse. 4. All data processing and analysis should be performed offline/home. Dear all, Given the coronavirus-related risks and our aim to contain epidemics for as long as possible Biocenter Virus Core will also adapt to special regulations. Core facilities provide essential services (The University of Oulu Guidelines on Research, Development and Innovation) and therefore the operations continue albeit with the following restrictions: 1. Maximum two people are allowed in the viruslab at any given time. Please note this and do not enter if laminars are already taken. 2. Only one person at the time is allowed in the entrance room - AND USE ONLY YOUR OWN PERSONAL CLEAN LAB COAT! COMMON USE LABCOATS SHOULD NOT BE USED! 3. The ultracentrifuge is mainly restricted for virus work. It is strongly advisable NOT to use the ultracentrifuge non-viruswork unless it is really essential for a key activity. 4. Postdoctoral position A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Juha Grönholm in Translational Immunology Program at the University of Helsinki and the Pediatric Research Center, HUS Helsinki University Hospital. The focus of the recently established group is to understand the molecular mechanisms of primary immunodeficiency diseases and signaling pathways in the immune response. The project will be conducted in a close collaboration with clinicians and international collaborators. The successful candidate will have: * PhD or MD/PhD degree (or similar experience) in a relevant field of life sciences and background in the area of cellular/molecular biology * Has excellent skills in experimental laboratory work (especially in cell culture and with primary cells) * Previous experience in immunology and hands on experience in flow cytometry are advantageous * Able to conduct independently research projects * Good collaboration and communications skills * Has fluent spoken and written English The position will be funded with a grant from Emil Aaltonen foundation.
