Hi all, I would like to invite anyone interested in reading papers together to join an open journal club. As a first paper I have selected one discussing Pool-Seq for population genomic studies and how to analyze such data. The paper is attached. Here is a doodle link to help us select date and time for our first meeting (please answer by Monday Feb25): http://doodle.com/eby5ipxcawy7dcsw The idea is that in the subsequent meetings anyone can suggest a paper, or alternatively, we can discuss a specific research problem of somebody's project. Hi, Here is the plan for furniture in the new offices, and instructions from Martela. If you have some wishes about furniture (some other furniture you need, or if you want to change the position of the furniture in your office) please contact Tuulikki Pakonen by email, by Wednesday. The position of the tables etc has an influence on where to install electricity and this information is needed by Wednesday. Helmi

Dear Geneticists, Kehityskeskustelujen aika on alkanut. The development discussions should be conducted before the end of March. The discussion are supposed to start with a general discussion on the goals of the unit, which could in this case be "Population genetics research group". Let us have a meeting to discuss these aspects, on Thursday 21st, at 12.15-13.00 (place to be announced). about moving

Hi geneticists, there was a meeting about moving to the new space. The current plan is to move during week 10. There was a lot of uncertainty about if we can move in such a tight schedule. At this point it is important that everyone organizes his own stuff: throws away all papers and other stuff that he will not take to the new office/lab. We will be given more detailed schedule and further instructions about cleaning, packing etc. later, once Tuulikki gets a confirmed schedule. Regards, Helmi
